Willemstad – Djaluna 22 di aprel 2019, Minister di Tráfiko, Transporte i Planifikashon Urbano, señora Zita Jesus-Leito tabatin e honor di hasi apertura ofisial di e di 65 edishon di e “Women’s International Motorcycle Association Rally” (WIMA Rally), ku ta tuma lugá na nos dushi Kòrsou di 21 pa 27 aprel 2019.

WIMA ta un klup di motosiklista femenino ku a ser funda na aña 1950, kual ta konta ku miembronan di diferente pais. Riba un base anual e miembronan ta topa ku otro, dor di bishita i eksplorá paisnan diferente ku nan “motorcycle”. Esaki ta e promé biaha ku WIMA a organisá un Rally na un pais Karibense i nos Dushi Kòrsou a keda skohe komo e pais anfitrion.

Minister Jesus-Leito komo e minister enkargá ku tráfiko i transporte a yama un kaluroso bon bini na mas ku 80 partisipante di 11 diferente pais. Invitando nan pa sera konosí ku nos Dushi Kòrsou ku ta riku na historia, kultura, ambiente i su bunita lamannan. Tambe minister Jesus-Leito a para ketu na e aspekto di seguridat den tráfiko, pidiendo kada unu pa manehá ku koutela.

Words of Welcome and opening Dushi Wima Rally Curacao, April 22, 2019, Dinner party

Good evening President of Wima Curacao, mrs. Mercera, all presidents, divisions of Wima international, members, organizing committee and all visiting guests.

It is today for me a great honor to deliver this welcome speech and to use your jargon to “kick start” this Dushi Wima rally Curacao. I am happy to be part of this international event today.

When I received this invitation and by reading the history of Women‘s international Motorcycle Association, I was amazed to realize that the WIMA was established since 1950. I then proudly realized that we, so tiny island, also participate in this international organization. Allowing Women to gather during international rallies in order to meet other motorcycling women and so being able to share experiences and adventures, to have fun together and to experience cultures of other members in their countries.

This week it is our turn to give back to you some Dushi experience on our beautiful island, Curacao. I am grateful to Wima Curacao that they took upon them to organize this week. It is not an easy task because many of them are like you: mothers, housewives, and career women. And still they manage to make time to organize this rally and put you and our island in the spotlight. I know a few of them personally and have worked with them. I could have never imagined them on a bike. Riding bikes isn’t just an all-boys club anymore.

I will not take more time of you but I would like to thank you to make me much more aware today of the saying that the brave don’t live forever but the cautious don’t live at all. You live!!! As the minister of Traffic and Transport, I take this opportunity to pledge again for a safe environment for you, women motor riders, to enjoy your sport. By doing so, I hereby officially open the Dushi Wima Rally in Curacao.
