On 19 November, Maatschappelijke Diensttijd Statia (MDTStatia – Social Service Time Statia) trainees, together with the GVP School and the Social Support Unit, marked International Men’s Day by delivering tokens of appreciation to more than 50 men in the community, including residents of the Auxiliary Home and clients at Chapel Piece. Led by trainee Alininia Merkman and guided by MDT Coordinator Granville Hassell, the activity gave students a meaningful opportunity to connect with elders and show appreciation. GVP School’s Vice-Principal, Vanessa Bennett, noted that the project offered a valuable lesson in empathy and service. The collaboration highlighted the positive impact of youth engagement and community partnerships.
