Parliament of Sint Maarten

On Tuesday, February 17, 2026, Members of the Women’s Caucus of the Parliament of Sint Maarten, led by the President of Parliament, Mrs. Sarah A. Wescot-Williams, and Members of Parliament Mrs. Veronica C. Jansen-Webster, Ms. Sjamira D.M. Roseburg, and Ms. Ludmilla N.L. de Weever, conducted a working visit to Victim Support Services (VSS).
Victim Support Services is a foundation funded mainly by the Ministry of Justice and plays a vital role in providing support, guidance, and advocacy for survivors of crime and abuse, helping them access the services they need while promoting safety, justice, and dignity.
During the visit, the Members of Parliament engaged in open and impactful dialogue with VSS leadership, staff, and survivors. These discussions provided valuable insight into lived experiences of survivors and highlighted critical gaps in protection and the urgent need for policy advancement. A key moment of the visit was the presentation of a report by MPs Roseburg and Jansen-Webster, which shared outcomes and lessons from recent regional parliamentary engagements focused on strengthening survivor-centered legislation.
The Women’s Caucus of Parliament is committed to carefully reviewing the concerns raised and advancing legislative measures that ensure safety, dignity, and justice for all survivors across Sint Maarten.
