Today at 9:50 AM, screening machines detected a possible explosive in a piece of luggage.
In accordance with standard procedures for bomb threat situations, Government of Curaçao, through the National Crisis Coordinator and the Police Force (KPC), took control of the situation to conduct the necessary checks. As a result, airport access was temporarily restricted for both entry and exit. The departures area was evacuated, and all passengers were directed to wait outside.
At 11:53 AM, KPC officially cleared the emergency and gave the green light for normal operations to resume under CAP. The airport has since reopened for entry and exit, and aircraft operations, including landings and departures, have resumed.
Airlines affected by delays include Divi Divi Air, ZAir, Avianca, Global, and Laser. Two airlines, Copa and Winair, were diverted to Aruba and will resume operations shortly. American Airlines and JetBlue will experience delayed counter openings.
CAP is working closely with airlines, immigration, security screening, and other stakeholders to process all affected passengers as quickly as possible and to minimize further disruptions.
We thank everyone for their understanding and cooperation during this situation.
