Joint KPSM–KMar Controls Result in One Arrest and Firearm Seizure
On the evening of October 26, 2026, members of the Police Force of Sint Maarten (KPSM), together with personnel from the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee (KMar), carried out a planned and coordinated control operation in the Cole Bay and Simpson Bay, Maho and the Low lands area.
During the operation, the combined team stopped and checked 40 vehicles as part of controls under Sint Maarten’s firearms and narcotics legislation. 4 fines were issued, one person was arrested, and one firearm was confiscated.
KMar personnel are currently assisting KPSM with ongoing controls aimed at reducing criminal activity and strengthening public safety.
KPSM warns that anyone found in possession of an illegal firearm will be arrested, and the firearm will be confiscated. Carrying an illegal firearm places the individual and others at serious risk. The presence of a firearm can quickly turn a disagreement into a deadly confrontation, while careless handling can cause an unintended discharge, serious injury, or loss of life.
These joint operations will continue over the coming period. KPSM asks motorists and other road users to cooperate with officers and follow their instructions during these controls.
KPSM remains committed to working with its partners to maintain a safe environment for residents and visitors.
