Kustwacht houdt 29 ongedocumenteerden aan op Klein Curaçao

De Kustwacht Caribisch Gebied (KWCARIB) heeft vanochtend, vrijdag 12 mei zesentwintig (26) ongedocumenteerden aangehouden op Klein Curaçao. De dag daarvoor werden er ook een drietal aangehouden.

In een goed gecoördineerde actie van de Kustwacht Caribisch Gebied, met Super-RHIB en Jet-Ski’s in het water en de Dash-8 en de helikopter in de lucht, zijn in totaal negenentwintig gedocumenteerde personen met de Venezolaanse nationaliteit aangehouden. Deze actie was reeds een aantal dagen en nachten bezig en resulteerde in de aanhouding van deze negenentwintig personen. Bij deze acties moet de bemanning altijd alert blijven, daar bij illegale immigratie vaak wapens en drugs worden aangetroffen. Twee Super-RHIB eenheden van het kustwachtsteunpunt Curaçao zijn ingezet om de mensen naar het steunpunt te vervoeren. Bij het steunpunt aangekomen kregen ze van het personeel van de Kustwacht eerst te eten en te drinken maar ook dekens en kleding aangezien ze uitdrogingsverschijnselen vertoonden. Daarna werden ze overgedragen aan de Politie die samen met de Kustwacht de zaak in onderzoek heeft.

Coast Guard detains 29 undocumented persons on Klein Curaçao

This morning, Friday May 12th, The Dutch Caribbean Coastguard (DCCG) detained twenty-six (26) undocumented persons on Klein Curacao. The day before that, another three were also detained.

In a well-coordinated action of the Dutch Caribbean Coastguard, with Super-RHIB and Jet-Ski in the water and Dash-8 and the helicopter in the air, a total of twenty-nine documented persons with the Venezuelan nationality were detained. This action has been going on for several days and nights and resulted in the arrest of these twenty-nine people. With actions such as these, the Coast Guard crew must always be alert, as illegal weapons and drugs are often found. Two Super-RHIB units of the Coast Guard Sub-station Curaçao have been deployed to transport the people to the sub-station in Parera. There, they were attended by the Coast Guard where they first received something to eat and drink, but also blankets and clothes as they showed dehydration symptoms. Afterwards they were transferred to the Police that is investigating the case together with the Coast Guard.
