POLICE PRESS RELEASE
Speedy Arrest made in Food Plus Theft
Suspect with the initials M.J.A.D (31) was arrested today 26thJune 2019 following a petite cash theft which took place on Tuesday 25th June around 9:00a.m. The dispatch sent a patrol to the Food Plus supermarket in the Philipsburg area, after receiving a call regarding theft. Upon arrival officers were informed by the store owner that they checked their petite cash pan at approximately 11:00 a.m. and realized that someone was able to withdraw money undetected and fled the store.
Officers on the scene were able to review the camera footage of the store and recognize the suspect who was responsible for the missing money. On Wednesday 26th around 7:30 a.m. the patrol located suspect M.J.A.D, apprehend him, place him under arrest and brought him in to the Philipsburg station for further questioning.
Backpack suspect apprehended
On the 18th June 2019 at approximately 2:15 p.m. the Alpha Team arrested a man with the initials J.D.D (71) from the U.S.; in connection with a theft from a backpack belong to a staff member of the airport.
This theft took place at the check-in area at the PJIA. The backpack belonging to the member of the airport staff was left unattended, in close proximity to them, while they carried out their work duties. The suspect saw the bag and used that opportunity to snatch the backpack and attempt to flee the area. The Alpha team was able to quickly locate the suspect and place him under arrest for further questioning; the backpack was returned to the staff member.
