WILLEMSTAD – 21 di novèmber 2019 – Ofisina di Turismo di Kòrsou (CTB) ta anunsiá e skema di buelo nobo pa e temporada benidero. E skema ta inkluí buelonan direkto, oumento den frekuensia i tambe regreso di diferente aerolínea pa e temporada di wenter. E skema nobo aki lo oumentá e potensial pa kresementu den kantidat di turista pa e temporada benidero i sobrá di 2020. 

 

Minister di Desaroyo Ekonómiko, Giselle Mc William a indiká, “Mi ta sumamente kontentu ku e oumento di buelo pa e temporada benidero. Mas buelo ta nifiká mas posibilidat pa mas turista bin bishitá nos dushi pais. Sektor privá, for di hotèl, restorant i tur esnan ku ta proveé servisio den sektor di turismo tur tin un ròl importante den brinda e turista lo mihó ku nos pais tin di ofresé. Esaki ta konta tambe pa nos komo pueblo”.

Curaçao Gearing up for the winter season with increased airlift 

Aruba Airlines flights to start end of November and United Airlines in December 

 

WILLEMSTAD – November 21, 2019 – The Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB) announces updated airlift schedule for the upcoming season. This includes new direct flights, increased frequencies, as well as the return of a number of flights for the winter season. This new and improved winter schedule will increase the potential for growth in visitor arrivals for the upcoming season and the rest of 2020.  

 

“I am very happy with the increased airlift for the upcoming season. More flights mean more options for visitors to fly down to this wonderful island. The private sector, including hotels, restaurants and all service providers in the tourism sector have a key role to play in providing our visitors with the best that the island has to offer, and so do the rest of us as a community,” said Minister of Economic Development, Giselle Mc William. 

 

Paul Pennicook, CEO of CTB, added, “Our primary mission at the CTB is to drive growth in visitor arrivals. Confirmed airlift for the upcoming season is quite promising and bodes well for an increase in visitor arrivals”.  

 

New Flights to Curaçao

Starting November 27, Aruba Airlines will be operating direct flights to and from Miami. The airline will introduce four weekly flights on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Additionally, starting December 7, United Airlines will be flying weekly from Newark to Curaçao each Saturday throughout the winter season. Of course, these flights are also ideal for locals who need to travel for leisure and or business to Miami and Newark. 

 

Increased Flight Frequency and Flights for the Winter Season

In addition to new flights, a number of airlines will be increasing their flight frequency or resuming flights for the winter season. For Europe, KLM increased its flight frequency in the latter part of October from one to two daily flights on Mondays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, for a total of 11 weekly flights. Condor has resumed its weekly flight from Germany for the winter season. For North America, American Airlines will bring back the second daily flight from Miami on December 18th and the once weekly flight from Charlotte on December 21st. Jetblue has resumed the third weekly flight from New York as of November 11th. Air Canada will be adding a fourth weekly flight from Toronto and will resume twice-weekly service from Montreal. Westjet has also resumed their once weekly seasonal service from Toronto. For South America, there is now a Viva Air charter that operates every 5 days from Bogotá, Colombia. Avianca continues to operate daily service from Bogotá and Wingo is operating twice weekly also from Bogotá. Caribbean Airlines, which started service in August of this year, will continue its twice-weekly service from Port of Spain and Jet Air’s Air Operator Certificate (AOC) has now been approved paving the way for even more arrivals from the Caribbean. CTB and the Ministry of Economic Development (MEO) would like to thank, the Ministry of Traffic, Transport and Urban Planning (VVRP), Curaçao Airport Partners (CAP), Curaçao Airport Holding (CAH), Curaçao Hospitality and Tourism Association (CHATA) for their support and cooperation in helping to realize this improved airlift scenario. With new developments in the accommodation sector and additional airlift, Curaçao is positioned to have a positive start to 2020.
