Hospital Ship USNS Comfort for Rest and Recuperation Visit on Curacao
During its five-month deployment (June – November), USNS Comfort (T-AH 20) will provide
medical assistance in support of regional partners and in response to the regional impacts of
the Venezuela political and economic crisis. USNS Comfort will conduct mission stops in
Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Grenada, Haiti, Jamaica, Panama, Peru,
Saint Lucia, St. Kitts and Nevis, and Trinidad and Tobago.
Later this week, the crew will enjoy a rest and recuperation stop on Curacao. Some of the
sailors will engage in a community relations project and the USNS Comfort band will perform
for patients and staff at SGR Groep.
USNS Comfort, a U.S. Navy hospital ship, has the capacity to provide afloat, mobile, acute
surgical medical facilities to the U.S. military, and is an optimal platform to provide hospital
services in support of U.S. humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations worldwide.
