The Dutch Caribbean Nature Alliance (DCNA) is honored to welcome Her Royal Highness Princess
Beatrix on her upcoming visit to Bonaire and Sint Eustatius in November. The visit will be centered around nature and society, highlighting the strong connection between the islands’ communities and their unique natural heritage.
Throughout the visit, Princess Beatrix will learn more about local conservation and restoration initiatives. DCNA is pleased that this special occasion provides an opportunity to highlight the important work of our local park management partners, STINAPA Bonaire and STENAPA St. Eustatius, who play a leading role in protecting and restoring the islands’ natural environments.
“We are proud to host Princess Beatrix and share the dedication and achievements of the many organizations working every day to protect and restore our islands’ natural environments” said Arno Verhoeven, DCNA Director. “This visit is a meaningful opportunity to draw national and international attention to the crucial role of nature for our communities, economies, and future resilience.”
The visit also comes at a time when DCNA and its partners have launched the Conservation and Restoration of Key Habitats Program. This multi-year initiative focuses on the protection and restoration of five critical ecosystems across all six Dutch Caribbean islands: coral reefs, seagrass beds, mangrove forests, tropical dry forests, and tropical wet forests. Through collaboration, knowledge sharing, and targeted action, the program aims to ensure these ecosystems continue to provide essential services for both nature and people.
By highlighting these projects during the Princess’s visit, DCNA and its partners hope to inspire continued support for conservation and restoration efforts across the Dutch Caribbean.

Dutch Caribbean Nature Alliance verwelkomt Prinses Beatrix op Bonaire en Sint Eustatius
De Dutch Caribbean Nature Alliance (DCNA) is vereerd om Hare Koninklijke Hoogheid Prinses Beatrix in november te verwelkomen tijdens haar bezoek aan Bonaire en Sint Eustatius. Het bezoek staat in het teken van natuur en samenleving, waarbij de sterke verbinding tussen de gemeenschappen van de eilanden en hun unieke natuurlijke erfgoed centraal staat.
Tijdens het bezoek zal Prinses Beatrix meer te weten komen over lokale initiatieven voor natuurbehoud en herstel. DCNA is verheugd dat deze bijzondere gelegenheid de mogelijkheid biedt om het belangrijke werk van onze lokale parkbeheerpartners, STINAPA Bonaire en STENAPA St. Eustatius, onder de aandacht te brengen. Zij spelen een leidende rol in de bescherming en het herstel van de natuurlijke omgevingen van de eilanden.
“Wij zijn trots om Prinses Beatrix te ontvangen en de toewijding en prestaties van de vele organisaties die zich dagelijks inzetten voor de bescherming en het herstel van de natuur op onze eilanden te delen” aldus Arno Verhoeven, directeur van DCNA. “Dit bezoek is een betekenisvolle kans om nationaal en internationaal aandacht te vragen voor de cruciale rol die natuur speelt voor onze gemeenschappen, economieën en toekomstige veerkracht.”
Het bezoek valt samen met de lancering van het Conservation and Restoration of Key Habitats Program door DCNA en haar partners. Dit meerjarige initiatief richt zich op de bescherming en het herstel van vijf essentiële ecosystemen op alle zes eilanden van het Nederlands Caribisch gebied: koraalriffen, zeegrasvelden, mangrovebossen, tropische droge bossen en tropische natte bossen. Door samenwerking, kennisdeling en gerichte acties wil het programma ervoor zorgen dat deze ecosystemen essentiële diensten blijven leveren voor zowel natuur als mens.
Door deze projecten tijdens het bezoek van de Prinses onder de aandacht te brengen, hopen DCNA en haar partners blijvende steun te inspireren voor natuurbehoud en herstel in het Nederlands Caribisch gebied.
