Curaçao’s Gastronomy and Culture Showcased at Sabor Barranquilla in Colombia

WILLEMSTAD – August 31, 2026 – Sabor Barranquilla is the largest gastronomic fair in the Colombian Caribbean region. The four-day fair brought together professionals from the culinary sector at both the national and international levels, along with companies from the F&B sector and entrepreneurs. Curaçao’s participation as the Guest Country of Honor at Sabor Barranquilla, provided an excellent platform to showcase the island’s rich gastronomy, vibrant culture, and diverse tourism offerings. During the opening of the fair, the Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB) shared a video message in which the Minister of Economic Development, Mr. Roderick Middelhof highlighted what Curaçao and Colombia have in common, Curaçao’s rich culinary heritage, and the unique characteristics that distinguish Curaçao as a tourism destination. On the main stage, traditional Curaçao dishes prepared by a Chef and Pastry Chef from Curaçao were presented.

This year’s fair welcomed an average of 5,000 visitors per day, including wholesalers, media representatives, culinary partners, and consumers. In addition to the presentation of traditional Curaçao dishes on the main stage, which judges and invited guests had the opportunity to taste, CTB also organized performances of various traditional dances from Curaçao, including Seú, tambú, waltz, danza, and tumba. At the Curaçao booth, visitors could also receive information about Curaçao’s tourism offerings and sample a variety of traditional savory snacks and sweet treats from Curaçao.

Curaçao’s participation in Sabor Barranquilla provided a valuable platform to showcase the island’s rich gastronomy and vibrant culture, while further strengthening Curaçao’s presence and visibility in the Colombian market.
